Submissions

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

IJBA adopts an open access author pays policy in which the publication costs of an article are borne by author(s), or by their supporting institution, in the form of handling and publishing Charges.

Article Submission to IJBA is free. However, after preliminary review to ascertain the relevance and content of the manuscript in line with the scope and format of the journal, an assessment fee of Ten Thousand Naira #10,000 (or US $10 for Foreign authors) per article is to be paid for peer review of the manuscript.

After acceptance of the article, contributors within Nigeria are expected to pay Thirty-five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00) only per manuscript as publication charge. International contributors are expected pay One Hundred United States Dollars ($100) only. This fee covers journal’s publication, availability online, hosting and archiving, DOI number etc. Both rates are subject to review in line with inflation and exchange rates.

Kindly note that publication charges are made only after an article has been accepted for publication.

❖   Language

Manuscripts must be written in English Language preferably in British Standard.

 

❖    Paper Length and Format

Total length of paper submitted for possible publication in International Journal of Builders in Academia (IJBA) should be maximum of 2000, 6000 and 10000 words for technical notes, research papers and review works, respectively. Manuscripts must be prepared only in MS Word format with single column, 12 font size and single line spacing in A4 size with left margin: 2.5 cm, right margin: 2.0 cm, top margin: 2.5cm and bottom margin: 2.0 cm, using Times New Roman.

 

❖   Title

Title must be clear, concise, informative and should not have more than fifteen words asides prepositions and

Conjunctions. It should be in “Title case” without abbreviations and formulae.

 

The full names, address or affiliations of all authors as well as the email address and phone number of the corresponding author should be placed below the title.

 

❖   Abstract

All articles must contain abstract with maximum of 300 words as well as 5 keywords. Abstract must be very clear, concise and give information about the purpose of the study, method used, major findings and conclusion. It should be devoid of references but may contain recommendations useful to researchers.

 

❖   Manuscript Body

The body of all manuscripts should include the following sections: Introduction

Materials and Methods/Research Methods

 

Results and Discussion Conclusions

Recommendations (optional)

Acknowledgements (optional) References

 

❖   Main body format

1. Section (First Level): Title case.
2. Sub section (Second level): Sentence case
3. Third level: This level, if any, should be in italic and not bold.

All paragraphs should be in block type

Displayed equations are set on a separate line with number.  x + y = z                                                     (1)

 

❖   Tables and Figures format

Tables and Figures should be numbered serially, must be referred to within the text and presented immediately after their discussions. In this journal, all graphical illustrations are referred to as “Figure” and written as Figure 1, 2, 3, etc. Examples of how Table and Figure should be presented are indicated below.

 

Table 1: Table captions should be above the tables and the source below.

Figure 1: Figure number, Title and Source are placed below the figures.

❖   References

References should follow the APA Style of referencing. It should be arranged in alphabetical order. The following referencing styles can be used as guides.

 

For articles:
